Sigma Phi Delta Statement on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

The Object, Purpose, and Code of Ethics of the Sigma Phi Delta Fraternity all lend themselves to a Brotherhood which looks to bring in new members and volunteers who share an understanding of our ideals. It is fundamentally against our values and interests for any individual, member or non-member, to be discriminated against.

The Sigma Phi Delta policies and educational programs emphasize a non-discrimination policy. As outlined in Article 64, Section 2 of our Risk Management Policy, the Sigma Phi Delta Fraternity and its members shall not discriminate against any individual on the basis of race; color; creed; culture; national origin; ancestry; genetic information; sexual orientation; gender identity and expression; religion; age; physical or mental disability; medical condition; marital or parental status; veteran or military status; socio-economic status; OR any other characteristic protected under applicable federal, state, or local laws. To that end, we are committed to be an ally to minority and LGBTQ+ communities across the globe.

Lastly, while Sigma Phi Delta continues to be committed and focused on our primary goal of being a Social-Professional Engineering Fraternity, our mission also includes a promise to provide a safe and non-discriminatory environment for everyone in all we do. From our recruitment events to the governing actions of our Supreme Council, we are dedicated to addressing systemic issues of discrimination. Sigma Phi Delta condemns all hate-related actions based on any form of discrimination. Our aim is to be an inclusive brotherhood that works towards the advancement of the Engineering Profession. Pro Bono Professionis.
