FAQ: Q: What is Sigma Phi Delta? A: Well since you're here you have some interest at least on some level in SPD. Sigma Phi Delta is an international social fraternity of engineers and architects founded at the University of Southern California. Restricted to engineering and architecture students, it is therefore a professional social fraternity. It is well organized, and its chapters are carefully supervised by the national officers and by faculty and alumni advisors. Q: How many people are in it? A: We generally like to keep our numbers between 25 and 30 members including pledges. Q: Where is your house? A: 1372 12th Ave North. Or directly south of the library at NDSU Q: What happens if I missed RUSH week and still want to join? A: Nothing, you are still welcome to come by the house at any time and meet the guys, although Sigma Phi Delta only gives out formal bids during rush week its a great way to feel out the house and try to ensure that you get a bid the following semester. Q: What is a formal bid? A: A "bid" is simply a formal invitation to become a pledge of Sigma Phi Delta. Q: What is a pledge/how does that work? A: A pledge is simply a person who has been invited to get to know the fraternity on a better level than most. A pledge is welcome to participate in all fraternity activities as well as hang out at the house and generally get to know the guys more and decide if the house is for sure for them. Q: What is "Hazing"/SPD's policy about that? A: Hazing is basically anything that an active member does to a pledge to make them uncomfortable either physically or mentally. NDSU does not condone hazing of any kind and SPD's national laws forbid it in any form. In a nutshell don't worry about it, it's not going to happen! Q: Who can I contact if I want more information? A: Brochures and whatnot are always available upon request, heck if you are a freshman engineer you will probably recieve one shortly before rush week. If you'd like one of these or simply to talk to someone about SPD you can either call the house at (701) 205-1616 or email one of these guys: Trever Hansen-Rush Chairman: Jesse Masloski-Chief Engineer: |
